Anfra to renovate the Övertorneå power plant pool area as a full contract

Photo: work on the new pool area at the Övertorneå power plant is progressing nicely.

Floodwaters from the Tornion River caused significant damage in spring 2023 in Övertorneå, Sweden
to the municipality's very popular Ekobadet hydroelectric power plant, destroying the entire pool area.
The ground pool has been closed since then and the municipality aims to have the ground pool open to the public again by summer 2025. After winning a public procurement tender, Anfra has signed a contract with Övertorneå municipality for the complete renovation of the entire ground pool area, including concrete and earthworks.

  • Our strong experience and significant references in industrial pool construction convinced the client of our expertise. The old damaged pool had already been removed and when we started work in May 2024, only a large pit was left. We are now building a new concrete-constructed pool area of about 40x11m, which will be finished with an epoxy coating.
Naturally, all earthworks and landscaping are included in the
our overall contract. Our part of the renovation of the power plant will be completed by the end of August 2024. We believe that the ground swimming pool will be back in active use by both locals and tourists from next summer," says Kai Kaarlejärvi.
