A-Perustus continues to be a partner in major sawmill projects. 

Pölkky Oy, the largest private wood processor in Northern Finland, is growing by developing its downstream processing operations and renewing its sawmill technology in Taivalkoski.

The contract covers the contracting of the cutter bagging, levelling, rimming and drying room phases. More than 200 000 kg of steel and 2 350 cubic metres of concrete have been delivered to the site. The total value of the contract is approximately EUR 3 million.

A-Perustus will carry out both concrete and civil engineering works for the project. The growth and investment in the woodworking sector continues to boost confidence in A-Perustus' future as a main contractor for industrial projects.

The civil engineering works in Taivalkoski have started in June 2022 and the project will be completed in early spring 2023.Janne Peltola, the construction manager responsible for civil engineering, comments that the project is very significant. A-Perustus is particularly pleased with the overall execution of the civil engineering and concrete work on the project.

The sawmill industry is currently undergoing massive investment. In the past, A-Perustus has worked for companies such as Metsä Fibre's bioproduct plant, SSAB, Stora Enso and Kemira in the sawmill industry. For Kuhmo sawmill, A-Perustus provided the design. The Koskinen and Junnikkala sawmills are the latest additions to this list.
