Anfra Oy and Omexom sign a contract for a large construction contract and ARCH/CON design.

Anfra Oy and Omexom have signed contracts for an electricity distribution project in Oulu. Anfra Oy will be responsible for the architectural and structural design of the project, as well as for the construction works. Anfra will also be responsible for the supervision of the project. The contract will nicely strengthen the Northern order book alongside the ongoing industrial projects.

The contract includes the construction of a substation with earthworks and six distribution substations, excluding the plumbing works. The structural design of the site is well underway and the actual site works will start in June 2023. The total floor area of the buildings included in the contract is approximately 2820m2 and the works are scheduled for completion in early 2024.

The contract is part of a larger project carried out for Aurora Infrastructure Oy by Omexom and Eitech. Aurora is responsible for the distribution of electricity to the end customer. Again, Anfra was involved in this project already at the pre-bid stage to offer its best expertise. The substation building itself will be a concrete structure with a pillar-beam frame and reinforced concrete elements.

The design solutions were considered at an early stage. "This has a significant impact on the cost, schedule and carbon emissions of the site", says the structural engineer in charge of the site, Matti Simonen Anfralta states.

The cooperation with Omexom started years ago. Omexom's construction manager, who has been involved in several collaborative projects Seppo Yli-Renko once stated that "The boys will sort it out".

"Opinion probably played a role in the conclusion of this contract", CEO of Anfra Tomi Puoskari tastes.
