Anfra to Build a New Cultural Landmark in the North – Konsthall Tornedalen to Rise on the Swedish-Finnish Border

Our subsidiary, Anfra Nordic AB, has been selected to construct the internationally acclaimed Konsthall Tornedalen cultural center in Vitsaniemi, Övertorneå. Construction will begin in the spring of 2026. The project combines cutting-edge architecture with highly efficient construction, creating a stunning venue for world-class art exhibitions surrounded by the pristine nature of the Torne Valley.

Anfra will serve as the design-build (turnkey) contractor for the project, overseeing the entire implementation from structural engineering all the way to the final finishing touches.

Driving Efficiency Through Optimized Design

In the Swedish market, Anfra is renowned for successfully executing demanding concrete structures and infrastructure projects. For Konsthall Tornedalen, the company will leverage this expertise specifically to streamline the construction process.

"We will begin work on-site this spring. We have optimized the structural designs to maximize production efficiency, ensuring that the construction of this highly anticipated project progresses rapidly," says Mika Räisänen from Anfra.

The facility has stringent technical requirements; the spaces must meet international museum standards for climate control and security in order to safely host and display valuable works of art.

Breaking Ground in February

While actual construction operations begin in the spring, the project will be celebrated beforehand. The client, AB Konsthall Tornedalen, will host a symbolic groundbreaking ceremony at the Vitsaniemi site on February 7th, marking the tangible start of this long-planned endeavor.
