The construction of substation infrastructure has been a cornerstone of Anfra's business for years, but the market is now demanding increasingly comprehensive delivery packages where a single operator provides its expertise for every phase of construction.
To meet the demand, Anfra is centralizing the development of its electrical business into the hands of Ilkka Moilanen. Moilanen takes overall responsibility for the electrical business and simultaneously acts as the company's Director of Electrical Works. His task is to package the company's strong substation and infrastructure expertise into a service model that covers both substation and BESS projects from the request for quotation all the way to commissioning. With this appointment, Anfra will now have unlimited electrical contracting rights in both Finland (S1) and Sweden (A).
Mr. Moilanen has a strong background in energy construction. Most recently, he has been in charge of electrical works at Suvic Oy, which brings Anfra valuable insight into managing large-scale projects.
A solid foundation enables growth
Anfra's CEO Tomi Puoskari points out that the company is not learning the industry, but scaling its operations.
– Substation infrastructure contracts have been our core business for a long time, and we have successfully executed them across Finland and Northern Sweden. Now, our goal is to make the most of this expertise by offering broader packages to our clients. Clients want to reduce interfaces and risks, and that is what we are responding to, Puoskari says.
– Recruiting Ilkka is a strategically significant step for us. He has experience in managing exactly the kind of large-scale projects that Anfra is now aiming for.
Project expertise at the core
Ilkka Moilanen sees Anfra's competitive advantage in the fact that the company already has a deep understanding of the infrastructure required by substations and energy storage systems.
– Anfra is no newcomer to the industry, but a veteran in BESS and substation construction. This was an important reason for me to take on this challenge. The foundation is solid, and now my task is to refine the processes so that we can deliver even larger and more demanding packages, such as turnkey energy storage systems, Mr. Moilanen states.
– In the future, we will combine power distribution infrastructure and electrical construction expertise into seamless project management. It is a massive advantage for the client when responsibility is not fragmented.
Mr. Moilanen started at Anfra on 26th of January 2026
