We carried out an exceptional construction project for Ranua Wildlife Park, which involved renovating Home of the Venus polar bear. The project combined extreme safety and sustainability requirements, animal welfare, and demanding Arctic construction expertise. Anfra carried out the structural design of the enclosure, concrete work, and mesh fence installation, as well as the foundations for the changing room to be built in connection with the enclosure.
The renovated polar bear enclosure is a significant project in terms of protecting this endangered Arctic species. You can read more about polar bears here. From the Ranua Wildlife Park website.
The structures, material choices, and joints were designed to withstand northern conditions and the potential loads caused by a huge predator. The purpose of the enclosure is to safely serve the animals, their keepers, and park visitors. The starting point for the new polar bear enclosure was to create a more natural environment for the zoo's polar bears, for example by improving visibility to the surrounding nature.
Our goal was to combine first-class safety with a long enclosure lifespan. The animal park welcomed new residents to the enclosure from France and Denmark. We are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to see Venus the polar bear in her new home.
