Sami Ehrnstén to lead Anfra's BESS projects in Finland and Sweden

Kai Kaarlejärvi (vas.) toivottaa Sami Ehrnsténin tervetulleeksi Anfralle.

We are strengthening our energy storage business (BESS) by appointing Sami Ehrnstén as Product Manager. Ehrnstén joins Anfra from Suvic and brings with him strong experience in the implementation of energy storage systems. This recruitment supports our strategy to execute energy storage projects as a turnkey (Design-Build/D&B) contractor with overall responsibility.

Grid instability and the growth of renewable energy have caused the demand for substations and energy storage systems to explode in the Nordic countries. However, the market lacks operators who can manage the entire project chain from design to implementation. We are meeting this demand by adding Sami Ehrnstén to our team, who has previously worked on demanding BESS projects at Suvic.

Going forward, Ehrnstén will be responsible for the management of Anfra's BESS projects as well as the initiation of new projects as support for the sales organization. His area of responsibility covers operational activities in both Finland and Sweden.

The Design-Build model eliminates unnecessary delays in BESS projects

Our competitive advantage in energy infrastructure is based on the Design-Build (ST) model. We do not act merely as a builder, but are also responsible for the technical design of the projects. This eliminates traditional interfaces between the drawing board and the construction site.

– Energy storage projects are technically demanding and schedules are often tight. As a Design-Build contractor, we can optimize structures and technical solutions right from the start for installation. This translates into cost-effectiveness for the client. Sami's experience perfectly supports this comprehensive approach, says Kai Kaarlejärvi, Anfra's Sales Director. Kai Kaarlejärvi.

We actively construct energy infrastructure on both sides of the Gulf of Bothnia.

– The Swedish market differs from Finland in terms of regulations, working methods, and logistics. Sami knows exactly how to complete infrastructure projects successfully in our western neighboring country. This reduces the client's risk and accelerates project completion, Mr. Kaarlejärvi continues.

Ehrnstén started in his role as Product Manager at Anfra on February 10, 2026.
