Refueling stations utilizing liquefied biogas (LBG) are an important part of the infrastructure for lower-emission heavy-duty transport. Anfra acted as the main contractor for the St1Imatra LBG station and was also responsible for the structural design of the site's refueling canopies.
The contract included earthworks and concrete construction, as well as electrical contracting, which was carried out in cooperation with a subcontractor.
Construction work began in late 2025 with site establishment and tree clearing. The actual construction work progressed throughout the winter, and the site was completed in the spring of 2026. Anfra's in-house design expertise was also utilized in the implementation of the refueling canopies. The structures were optimized from the perspective of execution and cost-efficiency while maintaining the cohesive visual appearance of the site. The protective fencing for the station's biogas tank was constructed by Anfra-Aidat.
The site progressed in close cooperation with the client and various contractors. The site was completed well ahead of the client's equipment deliveries, and additional work tailored to the client's needs was also carried out during the project. The construction site was completed without a single accident.
The client provided feedback on the project, specifically highlighting the effective cooperation, the smooth progress of the site, and Anfra's ability to quickly resolve any questions that arose during construction.
"The site went well, and thanks for that go to the entire Anfra team. There was strong background support to take the lead on a project like this – direct answers to questions raised on site were always available, or the right expert was quickly found to help." – Pasi Alanko, Site Manager
