Anfra Oy and Pölkky Oy have signed agreements related to the ongoing investment project at Pölky's Kajaani sawmill. Anfra Oy will be responsible for the civil engineering works of the new drying plant, including piling, earthworks and concrete construction.
The agreed scope of works also includes the design of the concrete structure. The contract is part of a larger investment project in which Pölkky will modernise all the main processes of the Kajaani sawmill, including the sawmill feed, debarking, sawmill line, by-product handling, drying plants and dry sorting.

The investment project will increase the capacity of the Kajaani sawmill from the current 200 000 cubic metres to 450 000 cubic metres per year. Pölkky Oy is part of the Central European Pfeifer Holding GmbH, which currently owns 9 sawmills. The combined production capacity of the Pfeifer Holding sawmills is approximately 3 million cubic metres of sawn timber, with an export rate of over 70% and deliveries to 35 countries. Pfeiffer Holding is a very important player in the global sawmill market. Pölkky's other sawmills and processing plants are located in Kuusamo (the company's headquarters), Taivalkoski and Kitka. The company also has a further processing plant in Oulu.

Cooperation between Anfra Oy and Pölkky Oy started in autumn 2022 for Taivalkoski sawmill
with the investment in a factory. The Kajaani contract is significant, with the total being around three times larger than the Taivalkoski contract.
